What is empirical probability?
Empirical probability (also called Experimental probability): An estimate of an event's probability calculated from observed data as the number of times it occurred divided by the number of trials. It approaches the true probability as the number of trials grows.
Empirical probability: an example
A cricket batter scored a fifty in 12 of 80 innings, so the empirical probability of a fifty in an innings is 12 / 80 = 0.15.
