What is empirical rule?
Empirical rule (also called 68-95-99.7 rule): A rule of thumb for bell-shaped data: roughly 68% of values lie within one standard deviation of the mean, 95% within two, and 99.7% within three. It gives a quick sense of what counts as typical or extreme.
Empirical rule: an example
With mean order value Rs 500 and standard deviation Rs 100, about 95% of orders fall between Rs 300 and Rs 700.
