What is birthday problem?
Birthday problem: A well-known counting result showing that in a group of only 23 people, the chance that at least two share a birthday exceeds 50%. It illustrates how the number of pairs grows quickly and is the basis of hash collision estimates.
Birthday problem: an example
With 23 people there are 253 pairs, which is why a shared birthday is more likely than intuition suggests.
