What is binomial distribution?
Binomial distribution: The distribution of the number of successes in a fixed number n of independent trials, each with the same success probability p: P(k) = C(n, k) p^k (1 - p)^(n - k). Its mean is np and variance np(1 - p).
Binomial distribution: an example
If each of 10 emails is opened with probability 0.2, the chance exactly 3 are opened is C(10,3) x 0.2^3 x 0.8^7, about 0.20.
