What is element-wise operation?
Element-wise operation (also called elementwise): An operation applied independently to each pair of matching positions in two arrays, or to each element of one array. Arithmetic operators such as + and * behave this way in NumPy. Multiplying two matrices in the linear algebra sense is a different operation.
Element-wise operation: an example
np.array([1, 2, 3]) * np.array([4, 5, 6]) returns array([4, 10, 18]).
