What is training?
Training (also called Fitting): The process of fitting a model to data by adjusting its parameters so that its predictions become closer to the known answers. It repeats until improvement stops or a budget is used up, and produces the model later used for prediction.
Training: an example
Running the fitting routine on 7,000 labelled emails until validation error stops improving produces the spam model.
