What is singular matrix?
Singular matrix (also called Non-invertible matrix): A square matrix that has no inverse because it squashes some direction to zero; its determinant is zero and its columns are linearly dependent. Attempting to solve equations with it gives no unique answer or a numerically unstable one.
Singular matrix: an example
[[1,2],[2,4]] is singular: its second row is twice its first, and its determinant is 1*4 - 2*2 = 0.
