What is orthonormal basis?
Orthonormal basis: A basis whose vectors are all of unit length and mutually orthogonal. Coordinates in such a basis are found simply by taking dot products, which makes them numerically stable and easy to work with.
Orthonormal basis: an example
[0.6, 0.8] and [-0.8, 0.6] are both length 1, have dot product 0, and so form an orthonormal basis of the plane.
