What is projection?
Projection (also called Vector projection): The operation of dropping a vector onto a line or subspace to find its closest point there. The result is the part of the vector lying along that subspace, and the leftover part is perpendicular to it.
Projection: an example
Projecting [3, 4] onto the x-axis gives [3, 0].
