What is dimension?
Dimension (also called Dimensionality): The number of vectors in any basis of a space, which equals the number of independent directions it has. For a vector, it is often used loosely to mean how many components the vector contains.
Dimension: an example
A sentence embedding with 768 numbers lives in a 768-dimensional space; a plane inside 3-D space has dimension 2.
