What is mode collapse?
Mode collapse: A GAN failure where the generator produces only a few kinds of outputs, or a single one, that fool the discriminator, instead of covering the full variety of the training data. It lowers diversity even when individual samples look good.
Mode collapse: an example
A digit GAN that outputs only convincing 1s and 7s, however different the noise input, has collapsed.
