What is domain knowledge features?
Domain knowledge features: Features designed using expertise about the problem area, capturing concepts that raw data do not show directly. They often beat automated features because they encode how the real process works.
Domain knowledge features: an example
For a credit model, 'debt-to-income ratio' encodes a risk concept every lender knows and is more useful than raw debt or income.
