What is Protocol Buffers?
Protocol Buffers (also called protobuf): A language-neutral binary serialisation system from Google in which structures are declared in a schema file and compiled into code. Messages are small and fast to parse, and field numbers allow forward and backward compatible changes.
Protocol Buffers: an example
A service defines message Order with numbered fields and sends it over gRPC; older readers ignore new fields they do not know.
