What is reverse proxy?
Reverse proxy: A server that sits in front of one or more backend servers, receiving client requests and passing them on, then returning the replies. It can handle encryption, caching and load distribution while hiding the backend.
Reverse proxy: an example
Nginx placed in front of an app server accepts connections on port 443 and forwards them to the app on a private port.
