What is stride?
Stride: The number of pixels a kernel or pooling window moves each step as it slides across an image. A stride of 1 visits every position, while a stride of 2 skips every other one and roughly halves the output height and width.
Stride: an example
A 224 x 224 input with a 7 x 7 kernel, padding 3 and stride 2 gives a 112 x 112 output, as in the first layer of ResNet.
