What is contour detection?
Contour detection: Finding the outlines of shapes in an image, usually from a binary or edge image, and returning each outline as a list of boundary points. It is used to measure shapes, count objects and find document borders.
Contour detection: an example
OpenCV's findContours can trace the four corners of a receipt photo so it can be straightened.
