What is PAT (personal access token)?
Personal access token (also called PAT): A generated secret string used in place of a password to authenticate to GitHub from the command line or scripts. It can be limited to certain actions and revoked at any time, so it should be stored safely.
Personal access token: an example
git clone over HTTPS asks for a username and a token instead of your account password.
