What is CLI (command-line interface)?
Command-line interface (also called CLI): A way of operating a computer by typing text instructions and reading text replies, instead of clicking icons. Each instruction names a program and its options. It is faster to repeat, easy to automate in scripts, and is the normal way to reach remote servers and cloud machines.
Command-line interface: an example
Typing ls -l in a terminal to list files with sizes, rather than opening a folder window.
