What is scree plot?
Scree plot: A line chart of the variance explained by each component in order, used to spot where the curve levels off and adding components stops helping. The bend is often called the elbow.
Scree plot: an example
A plot dropping from 40% to 8% and then flattening near 3% suggests keeping about 3 components.
