What is verifiable parental consent?
Verifiable parental consent: A requirement, under India's DPDP Act, that before processing a child's personal data the organisation obtains consent from the parent or lawful guardian, in a way it can verify. The Act defines a child as someone under 18 and restricts tracking and targeted advertising aimed at children.
Verifiable parental consent: an example
A kids' learning app asks a parent to confirm consent through a verification step before creating a child's account.
