What is JSON?

JSON (also called JavaScript Object Notation): JavaScript Object Notation is a lightweight text format for structured data, built from objects (key-value pairs in braces), arrays (ordered lists in brackets), strings, numbers, booleans and null. It is easy for people to read and for programs to parse, which makes it the usual format for web API messages.
