AI engineering glossary · Web APIs HTTP
What is HTTPS?
HTTPS: The secure form of the web protocol, in which all messages travel inside an encrypted channel set up by TLS. It stops eavesdroppers from reading passwords or API keys in transit and lets a client check it is talking to the real server. Modern APIs and browsers expect it by default.
HTTPS: an example
Calling https://api.example.com/v1/chat keeps your API key hidden from anyone sharing the same café Wi-Fi in Bengaluru.
