What is student's t-test?
Student's t-test (also called One-sample t-test): A hypothesis test that checks whether a sample average differs from a claimed value, or whether two averages differ, using the t-distribution because the spread is estimated from the data. It assumes roughly normal data or a fair sample size.
Student's t-test: an example
Delivery times for 25 orders average 34 minutes; testing against a promised 30 minutes gives t = (34 - 30) / (s / sqrt(25)).
