What is margin of error?
Margin of error: Half the width of a confidence interval: the distance from the point estimate to either end. It is the critical value multiplied by the standard error, and it shrinks as the sample gets larger.
Margin of error: an example
A poll finds 52 percent support with a margin of error of 3 points, so the interval runs from 49 to 55 percent.
