What is chi-square goodness-of-fit test?
Chi-square goodness-of-fit test: A test of whether observed category counts match a claimed distribution. It sums (observed - expected)^2 / expected across categories and compares the total with a chi-square reference distribution. Small totals mean the observed counts match the claim well.
Chi-square goodness-of-fit test: an example
A die rolled 600 times should give about 100 of each face; the test judges whether the observed counts deviate too much for a fair die.
