What is cohen's d?
Cohen's d: A standardised effect size for the difference between two averages, computed as the gap divided by the pooled standard deviation. Conventionally 0.2 is called small, 0.5 medium and 0.8 large.
Cohen's d: an example
Averages of 72 and 68 with a pooled standard deviation of 10 give d = 4 / 10 = 0.4.
