What is replication?
Replication: Copying data from one database server (primary) to others (replicas), continuously. It gives fault tolerance and lets read queries be spread over replicas, though replicas can lag behind. It is also the basis of many backup strategies.
Replication: an example
Reports run on a read replica so they do not slow down the main app database.
