What is ERD (entity-relationship model)?
Entity-relationship model (also called ER model, ERD): A way of designing a database by identifying entities (things like customers), their attributes and the relationships between them, usually drawn as a diagram, before converting it into tables. It helps agree the design with non-technical people.
Entity-relationship model: an example
An ER diagram shows Customer places Order and Order contains Product, which then become three tables plus a link table.
