What is to_datetime?
to_datetime (also called datetime conversion): A pandas function that converts text or numbers into proper datetime values. Once a column is a datetime, you can sort by time, compute differences and resample. A format string avoids ambiguity such as day-first versus month-first dates.
to_datetime: an example
pd.to_datetime('05/03/2026', format='%d/%m/%Y') reads the date as 5 March 2026, not 3 May.
