What is transliteration?
Transliteration: Writing text of one language using the script of another while keeping the sounds, without translating the meaning. It is widespread in Indian messaging and creates spelling variation that NLP systems must handle.
Transliteration: an example
"namaste" is the Roman-script transliteration of "नमस्ते".
