What is discriminative model?
Discriminative model: A model that learns directly the boundary between classes, or the probability of a label given the inputs, without modelling how the inputs themselves are distributed. It usually gives better classification accuracy than generative approaches when plenty of labelled data exists.
Discriminative model: an example
A logistic regression that outputs the probability an email is spam given its words does not model how emails are written.
