What is classification?
Classification: A supervised task where the goal is to assign each input to one of a fixed set of categories. The model outputs a class, often together with a probability for each class. It appears everywhere from email filtering to medical diagnosis, and its quality is judged with measures such as accuracy or precision.
Classification: an example
Deciding whether a customer review is positive, neutral or negative is a three-class task; an email spam filter is a two-class one.
