What is hot-deck imputation?
Hot-deck imputation: Filling a missing value by copying an observed value from a similar record, called the donor, in the same dataset. Because it borrows real values, it preserves the distribution better than mean imputation.
Hot-deck imputation: an example
A survey respondent with a blank income gets the income of a randomly chosen respondent with the same age band and city.
