What is IQR method?
IQR method: A rule for flagging outliers as values below Q1 - 1.5 x IQR or above Q3 + 1.5 x IQR, where IQR is the interquartile range Q3 - Q1. It relies on quartiles, so it is not distorted by the outliers it is trying to find.
IQR method: an example
With Q1 = 20 and Q3 = 40, IQR = 20, so values below -10 or above 70 are flagged.
