What is NPV (negative predictive value)?
Negative predictive value (also called NPV): Of all cases the model labels negative, the share that truly are negative: TN / (TN + FN). It is the negative-side counterpart of precision and tells you how far to trust a 'clear' verdict. It depends heavily on how common the positive class is.
Negative predictive value: an example
The model clears 975 transactions and 970 of them are genuine, so NPV = 970 / 975, about 0.995.
