What is AUC (AUC-ROC)?
AUC-ROC (also called AUC, ROC AUC, area under the ROC curve): The area under the ROC curve, a number from 0 to 1 that summarises ranking quality across all thresholds. It equals the probability that a randomly chosen positive case gets a higher score than a randomly chosen negative one. 0.5 is random and 1.0 is perfect separation.
AUC-ROC: an example
An AUC of 0.85 means that if you pick one defaulter and one non-defaulter at random, the model scores the defaulter higher 85% of the time.
