What is model supply chain attack?
Model supply chain attack (also called AI supply chain risk): Compromising an AI system through the components it depends on, such as downloaded model weights, datasets, libraries or plugins, by tampering with them or publishing malicious lookalikes. Verifying sources, checksums and file formats reduces the risk.
Model supply chain attack: an example
A developer downloads a model file from an unknown repository and it runs hidden code when loaded.
