What is hidden layer?
Hidden layer: Any layer between the input and output of a network. Its neurons are not directly observed in the data; they learn intermediate features that make the final prediction easier. More hidden layers let a network build more complex features from simpler ones.
Hidden layer: an example
In a face model, an early hidden layer may respond to edges while a later one responds to eyes or noses.
