What is switch?
Switch (also called Network switch): A network device that connects devices within the same local network and forwards data only to the port where the destination device sits, using hardware addresses. This makes local traffic efficient compared with broadcasting to everyone.
Switch: an example
An office with 40 desktops connects them through switches so each can exchange files with a file server.
