What is bytecode?
Bytecode: A compact, low-level instruction format produced from source code and executed by a virtual machine rather than directly by hardware. It lets the same program run on any system that has the matching virtual machine.
Bytecode: an example
CPython compiles your .py file into bytecode, which you can inspect with the dis module.
