What is PATH?
PATH: An environment variable holding a colon-separated list of folders, searched in order when you type a command name without a full path. If a program's folder is missing from it, the shell reports command not found even though the program is installed.
PATH: an example
Adding export PATH=$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH lets you run tools installed by pip install --user.
