What is EU AI Act?
EU AI Act (also called Artificial Intelligence Act): The European Union's regulation of artificial intelligence, which takes a risk-based approach: it bans certain practices, imposes strict duties on high-risk systems, sets transparency duties for some others and leaves minimal-risk systems mostly free. It can apply to non-EU firms whose AI is used in the EU.
EU AI Act: an example
An Indian company selling a CV-screening tool to a German employer must check whether the tool counts as high-risk under the EU AI Act.
