What is MCP resource?
MCP resource: Read-only data an MCP server makes available to clients, such as a file, database record or document, identified by a URI. Resources give the model context and are usually selected by the application or user rather than called by the model.
MCP resource: an example
A server exposes file:///reports/q3.pdf as a resource that the host attaches to the conversation.
