What is proposition indexing?
Proposition indexing: Breaking text into short, self-contained factual statements, each rewritten so it makes sense on its own, and indexing those instead of raw passages. It can improve precision because each unit expresses a single fact.
Proposition indexing: an example
The sentence 'It was founded in 1998 and is based in Pune' becomes 'Company X was founded in 1998' and 'Company X is based in Pune'.
