What is tidy data?
Tidy data (also called long format): A way of organising a table where each variable forms a column, each observation forms a row, and each type of observational unit forms its own table. Data in this form works smoothly with grouping, plotting and modelling tools.
Tidy data: an example
A table with columns city, month and sales, one row per city-month, is tidy; a table with one column per month is not.
