What is noise?
Noise: Random variation in data that does not reflect the real pattern, arising from measurement error, chance or unmeasured influences. Models that chase it overfit, so a good model separates the signal from it.
Noise: an example
Two thermometers reading 30.1 and 29.8 degrees for the same room differ because of measurement noise.
