What is grid search?
Grid search: A tuning method that tries every combination from a fixed list of values for each hyperparameter. It is simple and thorough within the grid but the number of runs multiplies quickly as more hyperparameters are added.
Grid search: an example
Three depths times four regularisation strengths gives 12 combinations, each scored with cross-validation.
