What is projector layer?
Projector layer (also called Vision-language connector): The small connector, often a linear layer or a two-layer MLP, that maps vision encoder features into the language model's embedding space so they can be read like word tokens.
Projector layer: an example
A projector converts 1024-dimensional patch features into 4096-dimensional vectors matching the language model's token embeddings.
