What is TP (true positive)?
True positive (also called TP): A case that really belongs to the class of interest and that the model also labels as that class. It is a correct positive prediction. Such cases sit in the numerator of recall and precision, so raising their count without adding false alarms is the usual goal of improving a classifier.
True positive: an example
A spam filter marks an email as spam and it truly is spam. Out of 200 real spam emails, catching 180 gives 180 true positives.
