What is BEP (precision-recall break-even point)?
Precision-recall break-even point (also called BEP): The single point on the precision-recall curve where precision equals recall, used as a one-number summary of a classifier's performance. It removes the need to choose a threshold by hand, and was common in early text-classification and information-retrieval studies.
Precision-recall break-even point: an example
If a spam filter at some threshold has precision 0.82 and recall 0.82, its break-even point is 0.82.
